Today's Run, Brought to you by P.O.D, Alive
When I was growing up, we weren't allowed to watch a lot of music videos. In fact, we didn't have the cable channels that had that sort of thing. If I had seen a video, it was because I was at a friends house and we were watching MTV or VH1 when I got older. For many years I would hear about all the cool shows and stuff on MTV, but I had no idea what they were talking about. As I got older, there were more and more dark comedy cartoons that I would love to watch. I would go the fire station when my dad was working and we would watch Bevis and Butthead together. Funny shit for sure!!
When I left home and I had just finished boot camp, I was living in the barracks, building 334, for what is my secondary school, A school for Engineman. I was walking through the common room, probably either going or coming from the smoke deck which was the court yard in the middle of the building. I glance over as I'm walking by the TV and I see a video that makes me stop and stare at the television. It was called Alive, by a group I had never heard of, P.O.D. I was in love with the music instantly and video, I couldn't make out an understanding and corealatoin between the lyrics and the video of the song. But the music was in me.
Throughout the years since then, I have added a great deal of music to my collection, and I have seen many of those artist leave this world, with so many of them departing last year. I love to listen to music whilst I run. I love to listen to music all the time in fact. It truly can change a mood. I have been feeling so out of sorts the last few days. Not wanting to eat much, not wanting to run, just blah. I got up this morning thinking I would get out there today and hit the pavement, but, my bed was so warm and snuggly. I didn't get up until after my love was home. This evening would have to do for the run. So I waited and waited and finally about 6, I got my off my butt and went to change. An hour later I'm off like the wind (probably not the wind, but something swift for sure). I realized that by leaving so late, I would be not on the side of time, I would have to actually bust my ass to get some good miles in.
I am happy to say that I did get my four miles in today. I knew I was going to do 2.5 miles, but, could I squeeze in 3 before it was dark. I kept going, thinking why the hell not, so I turned around at the graveyard and headed home. I was feeling good, and then this song comes on, and it's like I haven't head any thing else before it, I am just drawing a blank. And after the song Alive, another song by the same artist comes up, Boom. I was feeling pretty good by now. The song comes to a close and then the Bee-Gee's come on, You Should be Dancing, and you know what, they are right, we should be dancing! Not only is the music fun to listen to right then, I was moving pretty quickly at this point. I am loving my run right now, and I am so happy that I am out of my slump and back to feeling normal again. I take a brief moment and think about the music right then and how much it makes me want to move my body. I keep thinking how wonderful the music and then, Def Leporad Rock of Ages is playing. It was truly a stunningly wonderful run. I was coming home and did some more throughout the neighborhood. I was able to do 4 miles today. I am so glad that I did.
Anyway, that is all for tonight, I am beginning to get very tired, so for now, it's time for me to say, Good night!
Happy Running All~
