Arnica salve

This morning, I found it most difficult to roll myself out of bed to go run.  I instead laid in bed until I couldn't stay any longer, drank two cups of coffee and had enough time getting ready to blow dry my hair.  A feat of which I don't usually do in the summer time because it's way to hot!  But I did.  And I thought I looked most lovely in my new shirt and fresh looking hair.

Part of the reason why I didn't run had to do with the fact that my shins are once again giving me trouble.  I don't like this one bit.  I decided to wear my soccer socks/my version on compression socks. It takes me from being able to run with ease at a comfortable pace to feeling like I'm a snail trying to race a Gila monster.  It can be quite quick when it's needed but, other than that, not so much in the speed department.  I guess if he's hungry though, he can move.  Anyhow, I took off this evening thinking it wasn't going to be the best of runs, but, it will make me feel good.  And I love to feel good from the running.

Right away I was noticing how much spring I had in my step, how well I could feel my ankle joints articulating as I moved through flexion and dorsiflexion.  It was amazing how focused I was on this.  So much so, I didn't notice much of the music that I was listening to.  Then I started to notice that my shins were starting to hurt a small amount.  I kept thinking that my Arnica salve would kick in and I could feel the heat from it.  I wasn't prepared for how warm it got on my low back, but, it took quite a while for me to feel it on my feet.  Makes me wonder, if I had kept going, would I be able to notice it more?
Made by the Super Salve Co, also make amazing coconut body butter

The therapist in me needs to say this about arnica oil or salve.  It is amazing.  I love this stuff so much.  It is a warming muscle tension reliever and it works wonders on sore and hurting muscles.  Most of the problems I have with my body can be fixed with 800 mg of Advil, arnica oil rubbed into the sore spot, be it my legs or back or shoulders, and then a nice hot bath to soak in.  I abhor baths so much too.  I can't stand the thought of having to lay in a tub soaking in my own filthy water.  However, it is a necessary evil if I wish to feel better.  Also sex works well to make you feel better, but that's not a thing for this time.

I had told my husband that I would either be running three miles and some change, or four and a half miles, depending on the location of the sun when I get to my half way point for the three mile run.  I decided that I would be doing the shorter run, since the sun was going down by now.  We stopped and had some water.  I am starting to not have enough water for me since I give most of it to the dog.  I just don't want her to get overheated.  And then, we start back.  I admit it.  I walked a lot more on the second half of my run than what I wanted.  I feel like I am whining about my shins, but they do hurt and it hurts to walk with them like this sometime too.  I know it's from the shoes yesterday.  They weren't hurting this bad yesterday.
Suset at the Cemetery... We play fence tag once here.

I continue on and come to the near end of the run, and we stop and say hello to some horses again.  The dog is most intrigued with them.  Though she doesn't really want to sniff them, she just loves them.  By now, I am tired and ready to be done.  The way that the sun was setting was so pretty and I tried to capture the scene but, while I could see what I wanted to share, it was nearly impossible to capture it... though I did try.
Pretty sure they are called the Bears of Rainbow Lake

Pink Sky, Pink Lake

My favorite tree in the neighborhood

I ended the run with 3.44 miles.  Glad for the distance, but not the time... it was pretty bad.  Nearly an hour... Anyhow, tomorrow is a new day, one I will love to greet.

Happy Running all~
