No Hike, Just Run

I had anticipated hiking this morning with the family, however, that did not end up being the case today. Instead we did other fun stuff together due to the amount of mud that is permeating the whole mountain right now.  We ending up just hanging out together and that was good for me.

My favorite photo of the day

I had an appointment this afternoon, so the time with the group was limited, so after my appointment when I had gotten home, I knew I would run.  I set out to do a full 6 miles today, and I made it the whole way.  I was very pleased, though dissatisfied with the fact that instead of it raining, it was hot and muggy outside with no rain.
My kind of trail

The day was a hot one to start with.  I knew that with the heat, I wouldn't be taking the dog with me.  However, I did make sure she was taken out side and got to run a bit before the night came.  I felt good the whole run.  There were moments that I felt like I was flying down the road, it was an amazing feeling.  I felt like I was in sync with the music and the road and the weather.  I could feel the road moving so quickly under my feet.  My time and pace shows me that there was a good pace for the whole of the run.

I stopped for some good photos today too.  There was a sunflower that I had started to take photos of about 3 weeks ago, and today, it stands taller than me.  There are no blossoms on it yet, but I suspect it will soon enough.  The daily rain is making it grow so fast.  There is one that is down the slope of the road, it must be more than 15 feet tall.  I can't believe how wonderful they all look right now.  I am hopeful that soon enough I will be seeing more water in the lakes around here.

I am still hopeful that I will be able to go hiking tomorrow.  Should be a fun time, I am very much looking forward to it.  Until then, I am going to hit the hay, and hope for better sleep than last night.

Happy Running All~
