Nature.. It calls to me

Today I was so happy to be outside and running again.  The air, though filled with smoke from a fire, was sweet in my nose and the trees and birds danced and sang to me.  It was wonderful.  I had planned on getting up early and doing a good long run.  That didn't happen.  Guess it had to do with the fact that I was gone all week and it was my first night home in bed.  I missed my bed.  So instead of a morning run with the Yolandi Dog, we slept in and just enjoyed the morning.

For the run today, I chose to go by myself.  I wasn't well liked when I got home again.  I took off around 6:45, thinking I would be able to get a good 4-5 miles before the sunset and dark.  I was wrong.  I got to the trail head and started off.  Doing two full loops around the actual Big Spring area, I started my longer journey to the lake.  Today was somehow suppose to be about running shirtless in my sports bra, so I did.  It was a freeing and most comfortable experience.  In fact, given the opportunity, I should think I will try it again.  I'm not sure when would be ok, but, I will figure that out at a later time.
The sun was a bright orange color here..

The sunset was looking rather nice tonight.  Not that I like that there is a fire so close to my house, after all, it is fire season, but it makes for some killer cool shots of the sunset.  It felt good to be out today.  I was glad to have been able to sweat and feel the earth underneath my feet.  I loved that I chose to do a trail run today because it makes me engage more muscles in my core.  I loved that there were people there who saw me in my sports bra, I felt like Wonder Woman today.

Around 7:20 I glanced down at my time and I noticed that sunset is fast approaching.  Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but, with it being smoky and cloudy, this could be a big problem since I had nothing to shine a light if the time came that I needed it.  I set a timer for another 15 minutes, that would be ok I think.  Hit my 15 minutes and then turn around.  I should be able to make it home after that ok. I was enjoying myself, the run came easy and all of the sudden I look around and I notice that it's darker than normal and I have less time than what I had originally thought.  Shit!  I look at the timer, I have another 3 minutes, but I turned around and picked up my pace a lot.  As I come around a corner, I see a large raptor bird with a mouse in it's talons taking off from a perch.  I missed the shot, but it was pretty darn cool to see that.  I keep going.  I have to get back to the truck.
The long and winding road..

I finally make it back to the area I am most familiar with.  I feel so goo at this point.  I am so happy that I got out and ran.  The rest of the day just got away from me, but I'm glad that I waited.  I had to wait until the temperature was in the 80's.  The heat kills me.  Not too bad with the time, but, most glad to be outside.

Until tomorrow, Run Happy Friends~

Shirtless... was interesting for sure
