Something Soothing about a Sunday Run
Today, instead of getting up and going for a run like I normally would for a Sunday morning, I decided to go grocery shopping instead. And let me tell you, Wal-Mart was nothing short of amazing. There were maybe a dozen or so cars in the parking lot and the aisles were clear and everything was on the shelves, it was a glorious trip for sure. I headed home and got more stuff done like finished the laundry and got it all put away. I even managed to get my hair dyed today, which made me super happy! I missed the dark hair. Made me feel like a million dollars... Loved it completely.
Which then leads into a run in the evening. First however, we were at my parents and went for a walk with the dog. Got charged by two dogs not on their leashes and I hate that. So we get back and I take off for home and then I get changed and go out for my run. It was so nice and perfect for the weather, I loved it. And the sweat came and it felt so good on my skin.
It wasn't a fun run though. At about a mile into it, I was charged by yet another dog who was sitting out on the front porch but he's not hurting anyone so it's ok, I'm sure. I am sure that Ol' Yeller was the nicest dog the world has ever seen and he has never met a dog that he didn't like... Yeah, but mine isn't nice. She's become very protective of me and I can't help but want to keep her safe from the dogs that charge out to her. I think I will have to keep her home until she is out of heat, or just not take her... But I can't do that, I live in an apartment and she needs to run at least a little bit everyday. Not sure what to do about that one.
The darkness was not as kind to me as it has been in the past. I felt nervous the whole time and I went the whole run with my headphones tucked into my headband so I could hear everything there was to hear. There are a lot of dogs in our neighborhood. And my bitch is in heat.. Makes for a fun time running. I was glad for the cars coming up behind me as they light the way when I am having a hard time seeing it.
All and all, it was a great run. I felt really good about my pace, could be the nervousness kicking in but either way, I feel like I was pushing myself harder than I usually do and I need to do that more often as I know I can do better.
For now, it's time to sign off. I am tired now and I would like to go to bed soon enough. Until tomorrow comes, Happy Running All~
