Sunday Fun Day
This morning, I was not wanting to get out of bed for my run. I was nice and cozy in my bed, the dog was having fun trying to eat my hand, and then glared at me to get up (guess she knew she was coming with me today) and it was cold outside. Most of the time, when people hear the state, Arizona, they think of the desert.
And if I was to do a google search this would be one of the first photos that I would see as well. This is not where I live though. I had to put the town's name in the search bar before I could see any of the views that my mountain offers.
Well, I finally got my ass out of bed and started to motivate. It was going to be a slow start due to it being cold, but that also meant that I got to wear my awesome fleece lined leggings to run in again, and they are so soft and warm and comfy. I had also just got some new soft warm shirts for running too, so I got to layer that on. I even had to warm up my car before I left because I hate sitting in a cold car... which I will have to do for the next few months now as well. I pick up Hanna and we set out on our journey of tackling the Timber Mesa Trail at dawn. I have my MapMyRun going as well as my Garmin to track the miles we go today.
That first mile is a total doozy! It's hard to run up, too many rocks, and it's steep. So we manage to get thought that pretty much ok and then we come to the part that is my favorite on this trail. It's the part that I also like the least now, due to the thinning of the forest, but, for the running part, it's great. We get to two miles, and feeling pretty darn good. For miles three and four, there isn't a lot of ups and it's more of a flat land kind of run, through the forest, it's the last three miles that take it's toll on our bodies and kill me with the many times I am looking up a hill thinking, what the fuck is this?! How many times do I have to climb that fucking mountain before I'm on the top of it?? It would seem four times that I would think this, which, in retrospect would make the last part of the run that much harder for me.
The trial was muddy from it raining yesterday morning and I had to scrap them only twice (note to self, don't use a downed rotting tree to scrap shoes on, it's not the best route to go). Upon reaching the last mile of the run today, I was spent. My knee had tried to go the wrong way while I was being pulled by the dog therefore making the fall I tried to have not happen, but it hurt my knee. Hanna, had rolled her ankle a bit and agreed to walk the last mile with me, I think we were both pretty spent by the end of the run. We finished it in about 2 hours, and since I had forgotten to hit resume on MapMyRun and for about a half mile on the Garmin, I wasn't able to get the exact time or mileage, so using what I know of the trial, since I have run this a few time, I knew about the distance. Time, I had to guess to the best of my abilities. Was a good day, glad to have gone out.
Have a great week friends, Run Happy All~
