Never Miss A Monday
I cannot tell you, dear reader, how wonderful it was for me to be able to run again this evening. I had originally planned on this morning, but, I decided against it in favor of a short aerobic workout. I feel so much better today after running than I have in a few weeks. I know that it's from taking the week to recover and then today. So let me start...
I wanted to do a timed run again today. I have been working on those lately, mostly because of time constraints that I want to work within. Also it keeps me focused in my run. So for this run today, I set off for a 30 minute run. I set my timer for 15 minutes so I knew when to turn around and I began my journey. It began like many other runs have, taking off out of the apartments around the corner and off towards the lake. I felt faster than I have in a while. My legs didn't feel like lead balls and my mind was clear (an unusual thing for me indeed). The music was exactly as I had planned it, going instead of shuffle, to, playing straight through the playlist as I set it up. I didn't want to stop today. I knew that I would at some point, but, I was doing rather well the first time I walked this evening. About 10 steps later, I was back at running it again. I was loving this feeling. A feeling of being able to run and not being forced to stop due to legs hurting or not being able to breathe as easily as I would like to be able to. I did stop briefly at the lake to take a photo of my sunflowers. Much to my dismay, they have not been able to recover from their collapse a week or so ago, so the flowers are now lower towards the ground.. This didn't deter me from getting a good photo of them.
Onward I moved, my stride had opened up even more and I felt like I was able to cover more ground in much less time. I was surprised how easy the mile came and went and soon I was at my 15 minute mark and turned around again. I was feeling so good about this pace. It wasn't the fastest pace ever, but I sure felt great. I got to the lake once again and as I got across the top of the bridge, I got a call from my mom. I love getting to talk to my family, even though some times I would like to just tell them all off.... Seems I will have to find a ride for my little one to soccer practice on Thursday, since my dad is now off to Montana for the fires. I hung up with her and kept going. As I got home, I stopped my watch, it was 32 minutes for my run, at 2.48 miles. Not too bad, I think.
As for tomorrow's run, I will be doing my aerobics again in the morning, with an evening run as my little practices her soccer moves... I sure hope it helps her. She loves playing.
Until then, Happy Running...
