The Raining Season has Begun
This weekend marks the kick off of my favorite time of the year, Monsoon season. What is that you ask? It's the mid summer months that are notable due to the amount of rain that we get here in the southwest. Daily storms that produce thousands of lighting strikes every day, which means that there are chances of more of the state on fire too, but, it's lovely to watch at night. I love the smell of the rain and how it cools everything off so wonderfully.

This morning was not the case of the rain. Instead, it was humid and muggy out and it wasn't hot, but, wow, I was sure wishing I had a tank on by the time I got back from my run. I have been going out in the evenings more and more while my little one is off for the summer, but, today, I have to start getting back into my routine of going in the morning. I went to bed late last night, so today I will be going to bed much sooner to help remedy this problem. I was glad to get out of bed, but, since my allergic reaction to the cats last night, I was Leary about putting in my contacts. I am happy to report that there is no permanent damage to my eye, just a bit sore now.
I wanted to warm up a little before my run this morning too. Due to the fact that the dog was on her leash and waiting at the door for me to finish, I did a few quick moves and then off we went on our two mile adventure. There was no air movement at all. The running itself is what created any movement so I was very hot and sweaty from the get go. I wanted to keep it at a nice slow pace, so I pushed for about a 12.30 minute mile. I made the first mile in 12:43. Not bad I thought. We turned around and started to come home again. I wanted to make sure that I got home in a timely manner since it is Monday morning and I like to be ready for the day with some time to spare to do things at work like, poop or make coffee or just do my work. I walked a little bit, but I noticed that I was not having the pain that I had been dealing with before.
I got up to the Main Street, the one that I live on and we made it to our second mile at 13:06 pace. Not bad for the two miles I think. I got home and got the dog out back for her sniffing time around the flowers. I had to step up the pace and get moving since I did want to be to work on time. I am glad that I got it done first thing this morning. It tends to leave me more time to hang out and talk to my loves. Anyhow, I shall try this whole stretching thing before the run again in the morning and then we shall see. Who knows, could be a good thing.
Until then, Happy Running All~
