The new Day Dawns

For today, knowing that I wasn't going to want to run after work, I got up and got out there first thing.  Why does first things mean it takes me so damn long to get out the door.  I took the dog with me today, she was pretty happy about that.  I didn't have my Garmin on me, since I had signed up for another challenge within MapMyRun, which it said that only documented miles via the app would work.  It didn't, so, fuck that idea.  I will have it tomorrow.

I did remember to have on my compression socks and I wore some shorts that are more made for biking, so I didn't have to deal with the chaffing bit of it today.  It was hot this morning.  I remember getting to my quarter mile spot and thinking about how I usually work a festival this time of the year up here.  Or, I had worked at one time doing this festival.  The mornings are hot and humid and your costume is so hot to have one. (No one should ever have to wear so many articles of clothing.  And to think, this was the norm at one time.) And then, the early afternoon clouds begin to roll in and by 2 or 3, there is a promise of rain.  That sweet smell of the rain coming teases you so with dreams of the coolness hitting you on the face.  The air is suddenly cool to breathe in and you give a little gasp as you inhale it.  After that, it's a downpour.  And it rains like this for a bit.  Usually around an hour or so.  And then the rain stops.  There are the last drippings that come after the rain has fallen and the air is still mosit in your lungs.  Puddles are everywhere and you try to walk around the larger ones.  The clouds begin to give way to the sun that was hiding all this time.  And you see that silvery light poking out, spreading it rays across the land and sky.  It's truly breathtaking. We would all come out of our little tents and scurry around the ground where the drummers came out to play.  And then, we would dance.  Such dancing was soul food for sure.
Not this morning, but you get the idea of the sun and his rays

Still not today, but such beauty when the sun goes down

I had taken the dog with me today, but I had not brought much water or her bowl for that matter, so we only did about a mile and some change.   My shins were hurting a bit today, so I feel like I could have done better but, I am happy to have gone out.  Today was a good day, and I was happy.  I am happy.  Anyhow, we got to the lake and I saw some ducks so I tried to photo graph them, the dog pulled me just as I was to take the shot.  Oh well.  I got them anyway.  We turned back around and I have to admit, the heat was starting to get to me.  I didn't want to keep running, and with the dog, I tried to give her as much water as I could. However, since there was dog near by, she was somewhat distracted by the idea of a new butt to smell.  I got back tot he house and I was able to do some calf raises.  That was super painful.  I am glad I did so, as I am sure my legs would have been very mad at me today if I had not done that.  Sadly, there was no advil to help with the muscle aches.

Hard to see them, but, M R DUCKS

The run overall was better than yesterday.  I can't say that I was excited about the idea of going shortly after the last time that I ran, but, who cares.  Now, it's time for bed.

Good night Running Friends~
