Going Rouge

This morning was going to be my last in Phoenix. I am happy about this so I get up and immediately start getting ready to go run.  I get myself dressed and get down to the little gym and realize I have it all to myself for the last day.  I look at both of the machines and realize that I would like to use the elliptical for this mornings adventure.

So, I step on it and start doing my thing.  I wanted to watch whatever was on TV and just zone out.  Sadly, the TV wasn't receiving a great picture so I turned it off.  I am moving pretty hard and I am thinking about the first times I had used one of these machines.  I was in the Navy and a lot of the time, I would be standing on one next to my best friend, Judi.  If I closed my eyes, I could feel the ship moving as I'm trying to get my sweat on.  I think of the yellow lights of the little gym place.  I think of the vampire hours we had worked.  Seems fitting since my husband is now on vampire hours.  And then even after the ship went back to normal, I stayed on those hours.  It was lovely.

My mind strayed, and for a while, I don't think there was a whole lot of thoughts going through my mind.  I like being able to get lost in my run.  At a mile, I decided to do a third of this mile going backwards on the thing.  It will work different muscles so I do.  afterwards, I increased the resistance of the machine.  I finished out that mile, and went backwards again.  I repeated this for these other two miles as well. I was very much enjoying the challenge of it.  Felt good.
Notice the incline... ?

I didn't spend as much time on the machine as I would have liked.  I wanted to do five miles, but, with needing to get packed and out of the hotel, I cut it to three miles.  I am so glad that I did.  Tomorrow will finish out the week with my weekly training goal of 20 miles a week being matched.  However, I will have to hit around 23 miles a week to make it to 1000... it's all good, going for six tomorrow.

Happy Running friends...

Made it over 600!!
I don't sweat, I sparkle
